It’s a new era for women. The FIFA Women’s World Cup will take place this year in June and July. The matches will take place all around France (The winner of the men’s 2018 World Cup). We also look forward to the Rugby World Cup set to take place this September in Japan and the Cricket world cup in May which will start in London.
- A transition of power in Japan
It will be a year of history-making in Japan as Emperor Akihito steps down in April. The 83-year-old emperor will be ending his royal reign on 30 April 2019, after nearly three decades and his son Crown Prince Naruhito, will immediately take up the throne in May.
- The end of ‘Game of Thrones’ and an insane amount of new TV shows.
Game of Thrones has had fans on the toes over the years, leaving everyone feeling somewhat empty and more intrigued at the end of every season. 2019 is the year it all ends as the show will be premiering its final season in Apil. Be ready to be glued to your TV screens and the GoT team has promised fans the best season yet. No need to fret though, 2019 will also come with amazing new shows and reboots. Shows like “Carmen Sandiego,” “The Twilight Zone” or “Veronica Mars” will grace our screens this year. DC will also be bringing us “Swamp Thing,” a DC Universe-based horror series, and “Stargirl.” To top it off there will be a new season of “Stranger Things.”
- A $100 million Fortnite championship.
There will be a huge Fortnite tournament in 2019 with a championship prize of $100 million. The best part is anyone with a console and serious skills can participate. Qualifying rounds have however already started, but they’ll continue through most of 2019 before culminating in the big championship.
- ANOTHER royal baby.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting their first baby. The couple who got married on 19 May 2018, has not yet revealed the exact due date, however, predictions are that it is sometime in spring.
